The qualification

This is an online self-study qualification, and you can join the course at any time and progress at your own pace. Once enrolled, you will have access to all modules for 18 months.

On successful completion of this qualification, your membership will be upgraded to the Associate level and can use the ATPI (previously known as AIRPM) designation.

The course consists of thirteen modules and each module includes an end-of-module test to aid revision. Questions used are past exam questions.

There is a mock exam available at the end of the course. It is timed and contains past exam questions too, so it is a good practice tool for the exam.

The exam

The qualification is concluded with a final exam. The exam is online and it is ‘remotely proctored’, so there is no need to travel to a venue to sit the exam. Instead, you will be supervised by an invigilator online. All candidates will be provided with specific instructions and have the opportunity to test the exam system prior to the exam.

The exam is based on the qualification syllabus which is accredited by Ofqual. You can find the syllabus copy here.

The course contains a mock exam. You can find a sample paper here.

The exam takes place four times a year and you will be required to book an exam within 18 months of joining the course. If you DO NOT sit the exam within 18 months of purchasing the course, you will be required to pay an additional £110 to sit the exam.

The exam takes one and half hour and it consists of two sections – Part A and Part B:

Part A contains 20 short answer questions and candidates are required to answer all the questions. Two marks are awarded for each question and a maximum of 40 marks are awarded for this part of the paper.

Part B contains 8 questions in four sections. Candidates are required to answer three questions of their choice. Each question carries 20 marks and a maximum of 60 marks are awarded for this part of the paper.

The pass mark is 60%.

The exam bookings - You are required to book your place at the exam via the website. The bookings close 10 days prior to the exam date.

The exam bookings deferrals/cancellations – You can defer your exam sitting no later than 10 days prior to the exam date. Any bookings’ deferrals or cancellations after this deadline are only acceptable on medical grounds with evidence required.

Exam resits – Unsuccessful candidates can retake the exam at the next available and convenient sitting. The resit exam fee is £110.

The workshop

The Pre-Exam Revision Workshop is designed to provide intensive final preparation for students studying for the exam, either at work or on their own. The online workshop includes a comprehensive revision of all the elements of the exam with an experienced tutor.

The workshop also provides students with strategies for exam preparation and technique, as well as a variety of sample questions from past exam papers. And workshop handouts, in pdf format, will be provided for further study and revision.

Taking part in the exam preparation workshop is optional and is available at an additional cost of £99.
