This full day online course is designed to introduce new entrants to the property management sector to the essential health and safety knowledge required in their role. This course aims to provide a practical foundation without overwhelming participants with technical qualifications or specialist training.

Richard is Ex Armed Forces Warrant Officer with strong leadership and senior Management skills, excellent overarching knowledge of Health and Safety and a varied training background ranging from DSAT compliant Training Needs Analysis, through to course design, delivery and Inval / Exval. Richard is an experienced and approachable trainer who makes complex and some times intimidating subjects understandable and works across many of The Property Institute's Health and Safety and Fire Safety courses

What You'll Learn

Participants will gain foundational knowledge in:

  • An overview of Health & Safety law and legal responsibilities
  • The requirement for and structure of risk assessments
  • Types of risk assessments relevant to residential property
  • Identification of common hazards in residential buildings, including:
    - Fire safety
    - Asbestos
    - Legionella
    - Working at height
    - Electrical risks
    - Hazardous substances
  • Systems for managing health and safety risks
  • Selection and oversight of contractors
  • Understanding enforcement and legal consequences

Please Note: While this course will not qualify participants as fire risk assessors, CDM coordinators, or compliance specialists, it will equip them with the awareness and understanding necessary to carry out their day-to-day responsibilities safely and confidently—and give assurance to employers that basic legal obligations are being met.

This course is ideal for:

 

  • New property managers or support staff with little or no prior health and safety training
  • On-site staff responsible for the day-to-day management of residential blocks
  • Those needing a practical introduction to health and safety compliance in residential property

Online: Two half-day sessions (3 hours each over 2 days)

In-person: One full-day session (6 hours)

TC55 is one of our ‘core’ training courses, therefore, all the content within the course has been mapped to the relevant TPI qualification. In case of TC1, it is the Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in leasehold management.

All slides are labelled with their relevant level and an overall guide that maps the training course content to the relevant syllabus unit will be provided.

Note: Qualifications are based on syllabi that have been accredited by our accrediting body ABBE / Ofqual. They are bases for the course content and the assessment.
